Open Data Science Europe workshop 2022

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation - our international community
2022-06-15, 09:25–10:05, Conference room - C202

Open source solutions for geospatial are no news for most of us. Whether we are users or developers, there is a very high probability that we’ve been exposed to one or more software solutions to answer our various geospatial data processing and visualisation needs.
Furthermore, the lucky ones among us have also participated at dedicated workshops, code sprints, or conferences international or regional such as the Free and Open Source for Geospatial - FOSS4G.
However, some of you might not know that all these activities form a bigger, international and encompassing community - the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. Through this talk, we aim at offering an introduction to what OSGeo is, how it works and what it does.

Codrina Ilie is a technical geographer, an open source GIS power user, actively working in improving open data services development at Terrasigna. In the last 4 years, her work has been divided between open data initiative development and geodata standardization and interoperability. In her 8 years of activity, Codrina has essentially focused on using open source GIS solutions for data management, processing and visualization. As an advocate for foss4g, since 2010 she has been a volunteer trainer in the Romanian geospatial community, geo-spatial.org. Since 2013, Codrina has been a Charter Member of the OSGeo.
